Microsoft Ignite 2025: the ‘need-to-know’ highlights

Since Progenet’s early beginnings in 2017, Crayon has played a consistent role in its growth. Kai Loon Choong, Channel Director of Progenet, shares that one of the qualities he values most about their collaboration is Crayon’s openness to new ideas and directions.
“We have conversations that are not just tied to what we do, but also revolve around things we are keen to explore,” Kai Loon says. “We explore ideas outside the box, and that’s something that doesn’t happen with a lot of vendors or distributors.”
These exchanges have opened doors to new connections and opportunities within a broader ecosystem. Crayon introduces Progenet to other partners and providers for collaborative projects, empowering all parties involved to learn from one another and build collective visibility.
The partnership also proves its strength when challenges arise. Kai Loon recalls a complex email migration project during the pandemic, where a customer needed to move from cPanel to Office 365.
“My engineers were busy with another project. I had to handle the migration myself, but I couldn’t complete it alone,” he says. Crayon quickly connected Kai Loon with one of its engineers for hands-on assistance, and the migration wrapped up smoothly and on schedule.
That experience reinforced the partnership’s reliability. “It’s good to know that Crayon is always there to back us up when we need extra support,” Kai Loon says.

Aside from timely support, Crayon delivers value through its technology. Progenet relies on the robust Cloud-iQ platform to manage procurement, subscriptions, and billing needs. Kai Loon appreciates how it serves as a convenient, easy-to-use hub for his team’s daily operations, whether that’s checking license pricing or submitting a support ticket.
“Because it runs 24/7, I can self-service even at midnight when I don’t want to call the account manager,” he says. “I can use Cloud-iQ to get answers myself and create quotations or procure licenses for customers.”
Kai Loon also notes how the latest generation of Cloud-iQ enhances the user experience. “The interface is clearer, and I can even download the entire catalog from the portal,” he says.
What keeps Kai Loon loyal to Crayon goes beyond the tools and technology. It’s the dedicated team whose expertise and support make the biggest difference. “I love Crayon because of the people. I work alongside a number of great people there,” he says.
It’s no surprise, then, that Progenet’s relationship with Crayon is one marked by trust and ease. “I think I’m just too used to Crayon at the moment because there’s no issue and they’ve been very helpful,” Kai Loon shares. “So I wouldn’t even think of changing to any other distributor.”
