Big news drops at Ignite 2025

This week at Ignite 2025, Microsoft announced the launch of Microsoft 365 Copilot Business with general availability starting December 1.

 

 

This isn’t just another product launch, it’s a strategic move to make AI accessible, affordable, and practical for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that want to stay competitive.

While the name suggests something new, Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is built on the same foundation as Copilot for Microsoft 365, but with pricing and positioning tailored for SMBs.

This blog post digs into why now is the time to act.

Up until now, Copilot for Microsoft 365 has been priced at $30 per user per month*. With Microsoft 365 Copilot Business, introduced a lower price point:

  • USD $21 per user per month*
  • Introductory offer of USD $18 per user per month* (for a limited time).

*AUD pricing will be confirmed on 1st December 2025.

This makes enterprise-grade AI tools far more accessible to smaller organizations that have been hesitant to invest, and this can reduce the risk of employees turning to unsanctioned AI tools.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Business integrates seamlessly with Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Standard, and Premium SKUs, so it fits right into the workflows SMBs already rely on.

This is not just a pricing play. It is a strategic push to accelerate adoption in a segment where Microsoft sees massive growth potential.

Back in May 2023 when Chat GPT launched and was taking the world by storm, a former colleague of mine was very clear about what was coming, saying “If you do not embrace it (AI), whatever industry you are in, not necessarily in the next 12 to 18 months, but for certain within the next two to three years, you are highly likely to lose your competitive advantage.”

Fast forward 18 months: employees are already using AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and others in their personal lives. The question for businesses isn’t whether AI will be part of their workflows, it’s whether they will provide secure, compliant, and integrated solutions for their teams.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Business (priced in the same band as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity AI) offers exactly that.
